This August, the coast comes to the courtyard as Brightwells transforms into a seaside escape in the heart of Farnham! From 11th to 30th August, families are invited to enjoy a giant urban beach complete with soft golden sand, colourful deckchairs, and plenty of sunny photo opportunities.
Whether you’re building sandcastles, unwinding with a cold drink, or simply enjoying the relaxed summer atmosphere, it’s the perfect place for a break from the everyday. The best part? It’s all completely free – no tickets or booking required!

There’s a full line-up of family-friendly activities taking place throughout the school holidays, including:
Creative craft workshops led by local artists, in partnership with the New Ashgate Gallery
Seaside sports and games to keep kids active and entertained
Competitions, surprise giveaways and live entertainment

Pick up a trail sheet or download one online, then follow clues around Brightwells to find 8 hidden beach essentials displayed in shop windows. Each one reveals a secret letter. Collect them all to solve the mystery word and return your completed sheet to claim a prize! It’s a fun, interactive way to explore the centre – perfect for curious little ones and adventurous families alike.
We know British weather can be unpredictable – that’s why we’ve got a wet weather plan in place, so the fun doesn’t stop if the skies open. Wherever possible, activities will continue under cover to keep families smiling, rain or shine.
